What better way to begin the new year then to post from God's Word. The Lord has blessed me over the many years while working with youth and their family. This fits me and really God is all about family coming to Him through salvation found in His Son's forgiveness of sin. This week's lesson was developed from the book of Genesis following scriptures:
1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth (NKJV, Gen.).
1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them (NKJV, Gen.).
2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul (NKJV, Gen.).
2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him (NKJV, Gen.).
The scriptures context is about how man is formed in God's image and likeness. This image and likeness is the spirit formed in the Kingdom of Heaven and the body and soul formed on earth. We find in God's Word that the first Adam came into the world as dust from the ground and was made alive from God's breath of life. Adam became a living soul unlike the animals or plant life. As time past, God saw and knew that man's lonliness was not good for him, so God made woman as a help meet.
This began the first family unit formed by God to become One in God so that man and woman would represent God on earth. In the beginning, there was no confusion about gender indentity between man and woman. The family uniity was special and King Solomon said, "He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end (Ecclesiastes 3:11)".
This forming of man in God is an intrinsic sacred relationship that was witnessed by the Father, Son and Holy Spirit that agree as One God. Then God doubled His witness on earth in that the spirit, the water (Word), and the blood (Jesus) of man agree in the One God of Heaven. Untainted by sin, Adam and Eve were One in God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit from Heaven's eternal throne room. May that this new year begin and remain within the great witness of God's countenance and peace found in Jesus Christ forgiveness of sin.
